Exploring the Islands of Croatia
With GoXplore we will push the adventure side of your Skippered Sailing Holiday in Croatia. Now, this could mean we go all Captain Cook and try and find undiscovered gems in Croatia with no one else around or it could mean we explore the culture of the beautiful cities and towns. The important thing is we will go at your pace, do what you want to do, explore what you want to see and how you want to do it.
Now that could be a bit more sailing so we can push further on into the Islands of Croatia. Variety is the spice of life and with a little more sailing everyday you will be able to sample the changing geographical look and feel of many of the islands.
If you head South from the centrally based Marina Kastela (which is only 15 min away from Split Airport where we are berthed) the islands are green and lush with many tracks and paths for hill walking, the views are amazing and there is a cool breeze that blows for most of the day high up.
Heading North will feel much more like we are exploring uncharted sea’s. Most charter boats head South, not because heading North is less attractive but because there is more night life, bars and restaurants South. In this case though we are exploring, not partying and heading North there will be much less boat traffic and I will bet my bottom dollar that we will spend nights at anchor all alone with no one around. As we head North the islands will change from green to more arid and the water will be clearer and more sheltered. We can swim, paddle board and snorkel to our hearts content.
It could be that you want to explore the islands a little more on foot or by bike. If this is the case then we have teamed up with a team of Outdoor Education experts that specialise in hill walking and bike expeditions. They have lots of amazing routes lined up on many islands in Croatia. If your thing is enjoying the great outdoors then this may well be the route that you want to head down. We will use Adventura Scotland as our guides should you want a fully guided holiday. I have known Irene and Ali for many years and have had adventures with them in both Greenland and Scotland. It is fair to say they are very good friends and are very very good at what they do.
A must see is the waterfalls at KrKa. It may be a little touristy but will be well worth putting up with a few people around as it is stunningly breath taking. I use a guided tour for this visit as it gives you the full experience and for this I use Visit Krka from Split. She knows her stuff and is very friendly.
We have some paddle boards on board yacht GoX, It would be a good idea to have some training on your first day with a 4 hour tour around Split by paddle board with Split Adventure. It’s a great tour and you’ll be fully up to speed with using a paddle board for the rest of the trip. It’s an amazing way to explore and get ashore.
I get excited about GoXplore, I am an adventurer at heart and as well as the sailing life, I crave to go exploring. I am lucky, my life has revolved around finding myself in amazing places, come and join me on your own adventure. GoXplore, it will be amazing.
